Mattese Miller Lecque is a resilient native Charlestonian author, memoirist, retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Services Corps (1975–2001), retired veteran of 24+ years in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (U.S. Department of Justice) with roles in various facilities including USP Atlanta, FCI Estill, and FCI Edgefield, former Charleston County School Board candidate (2012), longtime community advocate, active member of St. Peter’s AME Church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and current Commission Vice-Chair of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC).
